digital dream labs
about our company
Digital Dream Labs, LLC is based in Pittsburgh, PA. Our mission is to spark the curiosity in us all, mixing nostalgia with the technology children love.
Our first product, Puzzlets, uses toy puzzle pieces to control video games. This hands-on learning game philosophy starts with fun first and offers endless possibilities to the consumer market. Cork The Volcano, the first game for Puzzlets, enriches logic, sequencing, fine-motor skills through physical interaction and gameplay.
Jacob Hanchar first invested in Digital Dream Labs in 2014 and became its CEO in 2015. Mr. Hanchar possesses a unique blend of know-how, both from business and formally educated perspectives. In business, he has experience in turn-around situations ranging from coal mining to real estate development and even restaurants. In education, he has earned a Ph.D. in Molecular and Medical Pharmacology from the University of California Los Angeles and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He pulls from this diverse background to act as an angel investor and mentor to start-up companies and now brings these talents for the successful launch and growth of Digital Dream Labs.
Justin’s top priorities include: making sure every Digital Dream Labs’ experience is fun, engaging, and unique by leading the videogame design and production. He saw Cork the Volcano go from notebook sketches to its multi-platform release while co-designing the Puzzlets platform. Justin graduated with a Master of Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University.
Matt leads the design and execution of all things in the physical realm. He thinks that Arduino is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread, and likes to style himself as a professional maker, learning new tools, components, and materials on the fly. He graduated with a Master of Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
